About Us

Who are we, and why the heck are we doing this?

Jordan Lynch

Jordan is a long-time resident of Madison County, VA. During his school years he was an active athelete, participating in Football, Hockey, Soccer and Horseback Riding programs, and earned the distinction of Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop 116.

Jordan enjoys hard work and loves to learn new trades and skillsets. He currently holds licenses in heath insurance, life insurance and annuities, and is awaiting approval for his real estate license.

Jordan would likely never have never entered into the Internet/Computer/IT world had it not been for Caleb Keily. Jordan had become resigned to accept poor internet performance at his home/farm following letdown after letdown throughout his lifetime search for a usable internet connection. Caleb, Jordan's neighbor, insisted that he had discovered the solution.

After much initial resistance and denial regarding the suggestion that a quality internet connection was available at Jordan's home (located at the very end of a dead end gravel road), Jordan finally conceded and challenged Caleb to put his money where his mouth was.

Caleb did that and more.

Jordan was astounded by the results.

These elements came together to create the perfect storm, and thus Actual Internet LLC was born.

Caleb Keily

Caleb became a Madison County resident in 1994 at the age of five, quickly embracing the happiness that comes with country living. Life on a farm, surrounded by animals, crops, and open spaces, was unbeatable.

However, Caleb's father had a different background. After graduating from college as an electrical engineer, he had the honor of being part of the IBM team for Apollo 11 that ultimately landed us on the moon. Growing up during the early days of home computers and the internet, Caleb learned to navigate these new technologies through his father, who often made computing tasks needlessly difficult. For instance, he required Caleb to use a string of C programming language in MS-DOS just to play a simple racing game. This sparked a lasting fascination with computers and related technologies.

After attending Virginia Tech, Caleb moved to Northern Virginia and undertook various tech jobs under the name Tech By Caleb. His work included building custom computers, managing small office and home office (SOHO) setups, data recovery, and much more. For all the experience and knowledge gained through that time, the significance of reliable internet was taken for granted.

Returning to Madison in 2017, Caleb made a surprising discovery: internet connectivity had not improved at all since his departure a decade earlier. Finding this unacceptable, Caleb explored all options and tirelessly worked to bring his family's 1950s farm into the modern era.

Years of trial and error finally resulted in success.

Sharing this accomplishment with neighbor and long-time family friend, Jordan Lynch, the two embarked on a mission to bring reliable internet to the good people of rural Virginia. Many residents were suffering from high prices and poor performance from local providers. Locked into bad contracts and without hope, one sentiment was clear: people wanted Actual Internet. The company name arose organically from their frustrations. Embarrassed by their current internet when family visited, or when trying to stream Netflix, or have a Zoom call with distant relatives, they asked for Actual Internet.
